Calls to the 24-hour Problem Gamblers HelpLine come from men and women of every age and background in our communities throughout Nevada. Old or young, working or unemployed, blue collar or white collar….they are all in need of help to deal with their own, or someone else’s gambling addiction.
Many of the callers hear about the HelpLine from a family member or friend, or see it posted in a gaming location or printed in a public awareness brochure. Not surprisingly, a growing number of people now say they found the number through….you guessed it....the internet!
It’s a fact of our world that every day more people turn to the internet to get information or share what they know with others. So this year our goal during National Problem Gambling Awareness Week is to maximize the use of social media to share information about problem gambling and the available resources for help.
