Shannon L. Bybee Award


This annual award was established to commemorate the life and work of Shannon L. Bybee, Past President and friend of the Nevada Council on Problem Gambling, in tribute to his personal commitment, professional dedication, and unselfish support of efforts to proactively address the issue of problem gambling.

Colin Hodgen

 


Colin holds a Masters degree in Counseling & Educational Psychology with an emphasis in Addictions and is a practicing LADC and CPGC and supervisor in private practice (RENEGADE Counseling). He is a co-author of the Gambling Patient Placement Criteria (GPPC). He has presented at numerous state, national and international conferences. He wrote and taught coursework on Aging and Addictions at UNR.

PURPOSE: To carry on the spirit of Shannon’s role as a mentor for individuals who have demonstrated a personal or professional interest in the field of problem gambling.

ELIGIBILITY: Any professional, student or volunteer who is not employed by the Council and who meets the criteria established for this award, as determined by a committee of the Nevada Council on Problem Gambling.

CRITERIA: Demonstrated personal and/or professional commitment to the field of problem gambling as follows:

a) Academic studies, community service, or professional endeavors related to problem gambling.
b) Support of the mission and programs of the Nevada Council on Problem Gambling through volunteer service and community advocacy.
c) Desire to gain broader knowledge and experience related to problem gambling.
d) Compassion for individuals and families affected by problem gambling.
